Early game tonight features Brett Rypien and the Shadle Park Highlanders taking on Jalen Hicks and the Ferris Saxons….Hicks waste no time getting things started for the Saxons helping to put them on the board…7-6 Saxons…..A hail mary pass at the end of the half gets Shadle Park right back in the game and the lead! 20-16 at the half…Third quarter starts and the Saxons go on a long, methodical drive, cap it off with a touchdown to go up 22-20…Shadle Park answers with a touchdown, and converts the 2-point conversion to go up 28-22 with under 12 minutes to play…That lead is short lived as Jalen Hicks and Ferris score again and re-take the lead, now up 29-28 with just under 9 minutes remaining…Jalen Hicks (Stop me if you’ve heard this before) scores AGAIN, 36-28 Ferris….a strip gives Ferris the ball right back and they waste no time. Guess who, Jalen Hicks breaks free for another score, Ferris closing the door on this one…A strong defensive stand with just under 3 minutes left gives Ferris the ball back still up 43-28…Shadle Park adds one more score but simply runs out of time…..big win for Ferris and an even bigger day for Jalen Hicks, 360 yards rushing…incredible performance!
After a defensive stop, Jerry Louie-McGee returns a punt 75 yards for a Touchdown to put Lake City up 7-0…..Post Falls answers with a nice kick return of their own to put them in good field position and they capitalize with a Touchdown! A 2-point conversion puts Post Falls up 8-7…..Not to be outdone, Lake City answers in just 3 plays. 14-8 LC entering the second quarter…LC’s Goggin scrambles in from 6-yards out to put LC up 21-8 early in the second….The Trojans will not go quietly, scoring on a 16-yard TD pass to cut into LC’s lead 28-15….a2-yd TD run puts Lake City back up 35-15 just before halftime….third quarter is a game of chess as neither teams finds the endzone…second half adjustments working for both teams so far….heading into the 4th still 35-15…a holding penalty in Post Falls’ own end zone gives Lake City two more points….LC adds a field goal and another touchdown to their total and walk away with the 47-15 win over Post Falls.
The annual “Battle of The Bell” between the Mead Panthers and Mt. Spokane Wildcats is underway at Joe Albi…..first quarter, Mead strikes first a 20-yard pass to AJ Layton puts the Panthers up 7-0……The Wildcats take over and are able to get on the board, but only for a field goal, 7-3 Panthers….Second quarter now…a 6-yd TD run gets the Wildcats their first touchdown of the night….defensive battle as we head towards halftime with the Wildcats up 10-7……in the third, Mead is able to retake the lead after a 7-yd touchdown run, 14-10 Panthers….Mt. Spokane is driving as we enter the 4th quarter….Mt. Spokane scores and goes up 3! This game has been an old-fashioned battle. Both teams know each other so well, and neither wants to give up an inch. The Battle of The Bell is certainly living up to the hype so far!…..with just under 7 minutes remaining, Mead converts a huge 4th and 1 to keep their drive alive as they try to tie or take the lead. Mead’s drive stalls again and this time they cannot convert the 4th down and turn the ball over to Mt. Spokane with about 5 minutes remaining….Mead has one last chance near midfield but is unable to convert…time runs out and Mt. Spokane has won this years’ “Battle of The Bell”!
Coeur D’Alene jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead and after a questionable spot gave Lewiston 3 points from a field goal, CDA answers quickly with a 60-yard TD pass to go up 14-3…..in the second quarter now, CDA adds another score to go up 21-3…..piling it on, CDA scores again and its now 27-3 with still about 8 minutes left before halftime…finally halftime in this game with CDA still up 27-3…lots of penalties on both teams have slowed the game down..third quarter underway…a 40 yard catch and run by Jonny Plum makes it 33-3 CDA…..CDA adding it on now, another TD makes it 40-3 in favor of CDA…Fourth quarter set to begin and CDA has pulled its starters…Lewiston gets a touchdown on the board, cutting the lead to 40-10…..CDA adds another one to put the lead back up to 36……46-10 CDA with just under 6 minutes left….clock runs out and CDA gets the W in convincing fashion.
