The Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame announced its five-member class of 2014 on Wednesday.
Those to be inducted at the 38th annual banquet on April 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn are Ron Balzan, Ron Brault (post-posthumously), Bob Gregorski, Dennis Hrdina and Jeff Schwoerer.
Balzan coached youth basketball and football for many years at Wilson Junior High and assisted with coach Brian Shaw’s summer basketball program. He is a charter member of the American Legion Board of Directors and the Lincoln High School Wall of Fame Committee.
Brault lettered in the sports of baseball, football and basketball at Two Rivers. He ended his Raiders’ career as a top five scorer in boys hoops and still holds the single season scoring record with 502 points.
Gregorski was an All-Big Ten golfer from 1983-84 and MVP at the University of Wisconsin in 1984. During his 34-year career, he has played in 11 USGA Championships, won 20 WSGA Championships and was the first amateur in Wisconsin to win the State Amateur, Match Play, Mid-Amateur and Public Links titles in the same year (1998). He was also the Wisconsin AAU Athlete of the Year in 1998 and WSGA Player of the Year in 1994, 1998, 2000 and 2001.
Hrdina was very active with the Two Rivers Cubs and Polar Bears Baseball Teams from 1966-80 where he won numerous MVP Awards and helped the Polar Bears win Shoreland League titles from 1974-76 and in 1978. He still holds many pitching records for the Polar Bears including a no-hitter on June 2, 1977.
Schwoerer was a part of the 1982 Valders State runner-up basketball team and was a two-year starter on the 1983 and 1984 Valders teams which finished second at State. He played a key role in co-founding the Valders Basketball Club which has has raised over $100,000 for area youth sports programs.
Tickets for the enshrinement banquet which are $25 per person or $235 for a table of 10, will be available around the middle of March.
