Lawrence North High School junior Lamina Cooper, who has committed to Purdue, has been named one of six core players for Indiana’s Junior Girls All-Star Team.
The Junior All-Star Team will play exhibitions on June 9 and 11 against the IndyStar Indiana All-Stars to prepare the seniors for the annual basketball games with Kentucky, which will be held in Lexington, Ky., on June 13 and at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on June 14.
The sites for the Juniors vs. Seniors exhibitions have not been set.
The Indiana Junior All-Stars will play the Kentucky Junior All-Stars at Scecina High School on June 6 and at Lexington, Ky., on June 7.
Cooper averaged 16 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats (25-2), who lost to eventual Class 4A state champion Bedford North Lawrence (27-1) in the semistate. BNL has two players, Dominique McBryde (Purdue commit) and Jenna Allen, (Indiana commit) among the core players.
The other core players are Victoria Gaines, Merrillville; Ali Patberg, Columbus North and Tori Schickel, Evansville Mater Dei. Gaines has committed to Michigan State and Patberg to Notre Dame.
The six South players selected are Kennedy Archer, Franklin Central; Jordan Hankins, Lawrence North; Brittany Ward, Pike; Alexa Bailey, Bedford North Lawrence; Stephanie Sherwood, Evansville Memorial and Olivia Crozier, Madison.
The six North players picked are Josie Fisher, Homestead; Jordyn Frantz, NorthWood; Darby Maggard, Fort Wayne Canterbury; Michal Miller, Michigan City; Tiara Murphy, South Bend Washington and Nakeya Penny, Logansport.
