NEW IBERIA – Don’t look now, but the Lafayette Christian Knights are beginning to look like a dangerous Class 1A football team again.
An early-season slump, compounded with a load of injuries, had the Knights’ state playoff hopes looking awfully dim just two weeks ago.
But after Thursday’s 42-14 road victory over Highland Baptist, the Knights climbed back to 5-5 overall and seemingly need a loss from either Hanson or St. Martin’s on Friday to sneak back into the state playoffs.
Regan Miller continued his hot play by rushing for 180 yards and three touchdowns, while also hitting eight of 12 passes for 143 yards in the win. Jeremy Joseph added 123 yards rushing and a touchdown on 16 carries.
Defensively, Hunter Thibodeaux led the way with 22 tafckles, followed by Casey Miller with 13 stops as LCA outgained Highland 519-346 in the impressive road win.
