LCA knocks off Holy Cross 59-58 in All 'A' Classic

Matt Rose scored 22 points and had five blocks to help Lexington Christian to a 59-58 victory over Holy Cross on Friday in a boys’ basketball quarterfinal in the All “A” Classic at the Frankfort Convention Center.

The Eagles (14-7), who also got 16 points from Drew Trimble, entered the fourth quarter trailing by four, at 44-40.

Dominque Mack scored 14 points, Jack Schmitt had 13 and Norman Ellis had 12 points and five assists for the Cougars (15-5).

Lexington Christian will play Newport Central Catholic in a semifinal at 6 p.m. today.

Moore had a game-high 21 and Pearson had 20 points and nine rebounds.

Brook Asher and Madisyn Combs scored 14 each for the Eagles (13-8). Katie Moore had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Owensboro Catholic faces Glasgow in a semifinal at 10 a.m. today.
