According to multiple local reports, lightning struck a transformer in Starkville (Miss.) and brought the MHSAA Class 6A state championship game to an abrupt stop around 7:20 p.m. CT.
Mississippi State’s emergency Twitter account reported that MHSAA and MSU officials decided to resume the 6A Championship Game at 4 p.m. CT on Sunday.
The bleachers were cleared at about 7:30 p.m. CT. South Panola was leading 7-0 when the power went out at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville.
Due to safety concerns, MHSAA and MSU officials have decided to resume the 6A Championship Game at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7.
