The Arlington High School girls basketball team won its season opener in Roy C. Ketcham’s Lisa Moray Memorial Tournament, defeating Red Hook 50-27 on Friday.
Jade Keil led Arlington with 14 points. Casey Schweitzer added 11 points.
Jessica Wilkinson scored a team-high 12 points for Red Hook.
Poughkeepsie 45, Goshen 38 – Jazmin Diggs had a team-high 20 points as the Pioneers won the consolation game of Goshen’s George McGinnis Tournament.
Devin Tully was named her team’s MVP for the tournament.
“I’m truly proud of our team and hope we can continue to improve and be very competitive in our games,” Poughkeepsie coach Daniel Gil said.
Roy C. Ketcham 56, Pine Plains 43 – Dana Dockery, Katie Wall and Jordan Kastanis scored 14 points apiece as the host Indians won their season opener in their home Lisa Moray Memorial Tournament in Wappingers Falls.
Ashley Starzyk had 14 points and Frances Snyder added 10 for Pine Plains.
Kastanis had 11 of her points in the second half.
R.J. Rosa and Eric Regenbogen scored 13 points each in SUNY New Paltz’s 81-69 loss to host Plattsburgh.
John Jay advanced to the quarterfinals of the Section 1 Dual Meet Championships with two wins at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua late Thursday.
The Patriots beat Horace Greeley 54-24 to advance after earlier topping Somers 69-9.
John Jay will host Carmel in the quarterfinals Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Double-winners for John Jay were Jay Albis (120), Ryan Gaulin (132), Grant Frederick (145), Ronnie McCabe (152). Other highlights for John Jay included a pinfall win for Paul Bernasconi against Somers in 57 seconds and Albis’ younger brother Tyler getting his first varsity win at 99 pounds against Horace Greeley.
Beacon fell to Horace Greeley 48-24 and defeated Somers 54-24. Sophomore Liam Ollive picked up his first pinfall win for Beacon at 99 pounds. Other winners for Beacon were Nick Anzovino (106) and Malachai Maloney (152).
Ketcham splits at Section 1 duals — Ketcham beat Ossining 63-15 and lost to Mahopac 64-12 late Thursday at the Section 1 Dual Meet Championships at Hendrick Hudson High School in Montrose.
Danny Murphy, at 145, was the lone double-winner for Ketcham (1-1). Liam Wilson, at 113, picked up his first varsity win in the Ossining match. Other winners for Ketcham against Ossining were Eric Schwartz (160), Riley Wilson (170) and Murphy Wilson (220).
Ketcham visits Section 9’s Wallkill Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a non-league match.
Boys swimming and diving
Our Lady of Lourdes defeated the combined Rye/Blind Brook squad 103-73 late Thursday.
Winners for Lourdes were Christian Thomas (200-yard freestyle, 1 minute, 52.42 seconds), Elias Econopouly (200 individual medley, 2:08.85), Ryan McLoughlin (50 freestyle, 23.77), Jason Boyko (100 butterfly, 57.73), Stephen Kelleher (500 freestyle, 5:01.08) and Matthew Bosse (100 backstroke, 57.01).
