Jancy Sherwood finished with 19 points as the Arlington High School girls basketball team defeated Carmel 54-36 in Freedom Plains on Saturday for its sixth consecutive triumph.
Shannon Doyle added 12 points and seven assists for the Admirals, who used a 17-5 second-quarter run to pull away. Sara Peabody grabbed 11 rebounds, and Courtney Albrecht had seven rebounds.
Mahopac 60, Beacon 59 — Talah Hughes had 25 points and 13 rebounds for visiting Beacon (7-1) in the non-league game.
The Bulldogs held a 49-38 lead through three quarters, but the team was haunted by foul trouble in the final quarter.
“It was a really good basketball game from the first to the fourth quarter,” Beacon coach Christina Dahl said. “When your starters are in foul trouble, it really hurts the flow of the game. We have to keep ourselves out of these situations.
“Mahopac has a strong team and they played hard.”
Peter Hoffman had 25 points, four blocks, eight rebounds and three steals to lift Haldane to a 72-60 triumph over North Salem at the Putnam Challenge in Brewster.
Ryan McCollum scored 17 points and Garrett Quigley 14 for the Blue Devils (7-2). John Rotando tallied nine points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Lamar Powell collected 26 points, four rebounds and seven assists for host Bard, which defeated Maritime 75-66 for its third consecutive win.
Brandon Cunningham contributed 10 points and five rebounds for the Raptors (5-4).
Mount Saint Mary 65, Mount Saint Vincent 58 — Hopewell Junction’s Joe Henain had 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots for visiting Mount Saint Mary in the Skyline Conference game.
The Knights (7-3, 3-0) travel to Long Island on Monday to play St. Joseph’s in a Skyline Conference tilt.
SUNY New Paltz 75, Hamilton 69 — R.J. Rosa tallied 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals to carry visiting New Paltz to the non-conference win.
Taylor Sowah contributed 13 points and six rebounds, and Keegan Donovan scored 13 points for the Hawks.
Rob Clerc finished with three goals and one assist as John Jay defeated Arlington 6-2 at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center late Friday.
Tim Bilello contributed two goals, and Nick Shepheard added a goal and an assist for the Patriots.
Austin Valentine had a goal and an assist for Arlington.
