David Boerman scored the go-ahead goal with 1:40 remaining, and Spencer Beattie tacked on an insurance tally to cement the Rice Memorial High School boys lacrosse team’s 11-9 win over host Rutland on Monday.
Emerson Prager led the Rice attack with four goals — including the 100th of his career — and four assists. Other offensive standouts for the Green Knights were Eric Morin (two goals), Beattie (two goals, one assist), Boerman (two goals) and Michael Laughrin (one goal). Jamie Crookshank made five saves for Rice (1-0).
Rutland was led by Joseph Couture (three goals) and Connor Balestra (two goals, three assists). Kevin MacFarlane made nine saves for the Raiders (0-1).
