The Loyola baseball team ended a six-game slide Saturday with a thrilling 7-6 win in 13 innings at North DeSoto.
Tatum Peters hit the go-ahead RBI with one of his four hits in the top of the 13th, and the Flyers’ Josh Mangum (1-2) got his first win by holding North DeSoto scoreless in the bottom of the inning.
The Flyers (4-17, 1-3 District 1-4A) piled up 14 hits but overcame eight errors in the win, just their third in the last 18 games.
Hunter Speights recorded three hits for North DeSoto (11-12, 2-2) who needed three runs in the seventh inning to force extras. Both teams scored runs in the ninth and 10th innings before the Griffins couldn’t answer Loyola’s 13th-inning run.
Northwood 14, Lakeside 7
The Falcons (17-4) scored 12 runs in the fifth inning to blow past Lakeside (13-8).
Pitcher Justin Gaskin improved to 5-0 while Timmy Yelverton and Deauton Delgado each produced three hits.
Lakeside’s Chase Woodall went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, but the Warriors committed seven errors.
Minden 16, Huntington 3 (6)
Minden (11-10, 4-1) snatched the District 1-4A lead with an offensive onslaught.
Hutton Leppert and Carson Bolyer each collected four RBIs while Austin Sumner picked up the win.
Haughton 3, Airline 1
The Bucs (11-13, 3-3) avoided a series sweep to Airline (9-13, 3-3) with David Rost picking up his second win.
Haughton’s Sam Wallace and Airline’s Cameron Taylor each had two hits.
Parkway 6, Southwood 2
Tyler Schilling (13-11, 5-1) smashed three doubles to lead Parkway to the win and the District 1-5A lead.
Rob Harper (3-2) picked up the win as Peyton Donaldson supplied two RBIs.
