As a pitcher, he is 2-1 with a 1.86 earned run average and 16 strikeouts. Gulick, who also played three years of varsity football at East Lansing, was selected all-league a year ago. This spring, he has helped the 12-8 Trojans to an 8-0 start in the CAAC Blue that leaves them tied for first place with Grand Ledge. He also knocked in three runs in a 10-1 win over Everett on Monday that was Mark’s Pendred’s 400th victory as East Lansing coach.
From coach Mark Pendred: “There have been a lot of high expectations with a brother like Travis (who played for Michigan State) and even his other brother was very good. Those are big shoes to fill, but he’s been able to step up and has done a nice job with that. He’s had some key hits for us the last couple of weeks. He hit a grand slam the other day, and he’s pitching really well right now. He’s really coming around and playing better defense for us as well. He’s been a key player.”
