Eaton Rapids senior

The facts: Baker is batting .909 in CAAC Gold softball games and .721 overall with a slugging percentage of 1.033 and an on-base percentage of .714. She hit a grand slam and a two-run homer in the same game against Parma Jackson County Western. In track and field, she is ranked first in the state in the discus and second in the shot put.

From track and field coach Bob Ribby: “She’s a phenomenal kid. Even if you just take away the athletics, she is the type of person you want your daughters to grow up to be. She’s a good student, a kind-hearted person, and she’s earned a scholarship to the University of Michigan. She is the best thrower in the area. She does it all.”

From softball coach Scott Warriner: “Bailey is undoubtedly one of the best softball players in the state regardless of position. She is tremendous defensively at first base. Bailey has excellent range and can save outs for her team with her ability to scoop throws in the dirt or stretch in all directions. She can hit for average and for power, and is also an outstanding base runner with very good speed for a young lady with her size and power. Bailey is also a highly intelligent player – not surprising for a 3.90 student. She also was an MHSAA Scholar-Athlete award winner. She is also a tremendous leader, being named team captain to all four sports teams she participated on again this year: volleyball, basketball, softball, and track.”
