Male High School boys’ basketball coach Larry Miller recorded his 400th career victory Saturday night when the Bulldogs beat Saunders of New York 66-56 in the Toyota Classic.
Miller is in his third season at Male. He coached 16 of the previous 17 seasons at Moore, posting a 243-219 record there.
The Bulldogs (9-8) were able to overcome an 11-point first-quarter deficit by turning up the defense with a press in the second half, disrupting the visitors’ offense.
Male had two players with double-doubles. Will Parker scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Steven Julian had 17 points and 13 rebounds.
P.J. Scott led the Bulldogs in scoring with 18 points.
Derek Fielder led Saunders (7-3) with 24 points, and Dijon Gonzales added 14.
