CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The No. 1 ranked Mallard Creek High School Mavericks grabbed their first conference win of the season Friday, beating West Charlotte 56-27. The Mavericks returned to number one in the AP poll and don’t want to relinquish the top spot again. The Mavericks were on top early in this one, leading by 35-0 before West Charlotte got on the board. From there, Mallard Creek cruised to an easy win in their conference opener.
