MARBURY – Marbury softball standout Hannah Lee signed with UAB on Monday.
Lee batted .430 with 11 doubles for the Bulldogs last season and was named to the Advertiser’s Class 5A-6A All Metro team.
“I’m excited and I’m blessed to have this opportunity. It’s been a life-long goal that I’ve had since I was a little girl,” Lee said. “I’ve always wanted to play at UAB or Troy, and I’ve got a major goal. When I went to UAB and went on an unofficial visit, I fell in love with it and knew I couldn’t go anywhere else.”
Lee was also an honorable mention All-State outfielder in Class 5A. She plays center field for the Bulldogs, and said she can play anywhere in the outfield. She had previously committed to Central Alabama Community College.
“I was very nervous. I knew in my heart that this was where I was supposed to be,” Lee said. “I was committed to CACC, but I knew this was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up. It’s always been my goal and it was right there, so I had to grab a hold of it.”
