Hagerstown’s Bryan Mathews hit three home runs in the span of three at-bats during the recent Class 2A Sectional 41 baseball tournament at Centerville.
It was a fitting performance from one of the Tri-Eastern Conference’s top players.
Mathews is the TEC Player of the Year for 2014, and one of four Tigers to earn spots on the all-conference team.
Hagerstown shared the TEC title with Northeastern as both teams finished 6-1. The Knights also placed four on the all-TEC team.
Mathews was joined by teammates Tyler Funkhauser, Dylan Woolard and Sam Reagan. Northeastern’s Del Caudill, Garrett Dill, Conner Silvers and Kessler Fisher were also all-conference.
Other all-TEC selections were Centerville’s Eli Callahan, Jack Willis and Sam Shaw; Union County’s Bryce Fields, Hunter Miller and Shane Mosley; Tri High’s Jason Marshall and Riley Casteel; Lincoln’s Alex Smith and Lucian Cornett; Union City’s Bailey Hughes; and Winchester’s Brandon Martin.
Honorable-mention picks were Jonah McKissick and Trevor Bradway (Hagerstown), Jordan Allen and Austin Kenworthy (Northeastern), John Cheatwood (Centerville), Gehrig Shepler (Union County), Zack Longnecker (Tri), Dawson Delks (Lincoln), Taylor Moore (Union City) and Bryant Clark (Winchester).
