MCC suffers first softball loss

Melbourne Central Catholic’s softball team was dealt its first loss of the season on Thursday, falling 4-2 to Benjamin.

But head coach Mike Anderson isn’t too concerned.

“I told our girls ‘Don’t hang your heads,’ ” Anderson said. “We’ve got a good thing going here.”

The Hustlers are a young team, who only have two seniors in their rotation. Despite the youth and inexperience, MCC has looked impressive on the diamond. Anderson says the defense and a pitching core consisting of all freshmen are the Hustlers’ strong points.

“We work hard on defense and we have good pitching; I think it’ll carry us to where we need to go,” Anderson said.

MCC has the weekend off before traveling to Vero Beach to take on The Master’s Academy.
