Collegiate’s Matthew Bode is the defending boys’ champion

Collegiate’s Matthew Bode is the defending boys’ champion and should get pushed by Villa Madonna’s Eric Baugh and Owsley County’s Logan Campbell on Saturday.

Bishop Brossart is the defending champion and should be in contention again with St. Henry and Green County.

The girls’ race could be a dual between Presentation’s Caroline Gosser and Holy Cross’ Karly Gawarecki. Gosser beat Gawarecki by 30 seconds in last week’s Region Three meet.

St. Henry is favored to win its fourth straight team title, with Hancock County and Covington Holy Cross also in the mix.

The State Cross Country Championships will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with the Class A girls’ meet at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The Class 3-A boys’ meet will close the competition at 2:15 p.m.
