Cross-country: Grand Blanc High senior Grant Fisher won the Foot Locker Cross-Country Championship at San Diego. Fisher, who has committed to Stanford, finished the 5K race in 15:03. Fisher, who won the state Division I individual title last month, is rated No. 1 in the nationwide SauconyFlo 50.
College basketball: Southeast Missouri beat Detroit Mercy, 61-51, at the Glass City Classic in Toledo. Jasmine Robinson led the Redhawks (5-5) with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Ellisha Crosby had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Titans (3-5). … Morgan Anderson scored 17 points as host Michigan Tech defeated Wayne State, 68-55. Danielle Blake added 13 points and 17 rebounds for the undefeated Huskies (7-0, 4-0 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference). Shareta Brown paced the Warriors (4-1, 2-1) with 20 points and 21 rebounds. … Central Michigan’s Crystal Bradford was named to the Naismith Trophy women’s top 50 list. Bradford, a senior from Detroit, leads the Chippewas in scoring (17.3 points per game), rebounding (10.3), assists (3.8) and steals (2.5).
College football: Ferris State’s Justin Zimmer was named a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award, presented to the nation’s top small college defensive player. Zimmer, a junior from Greenville, helped lead the Bulldogs to the GLIAC title. Zimmer had 61/2 sacks and 13 tackles for loss in 2014. The award winner will be announced on Dec. 24. Wayne State’s Nores Fradi is also a finalist. Fradi is a senior linebacker from Dearborn Heights.
