THE WINNER: Dorian Bailey
School: St. Teresa’s Academy (Kansas City, Mo.)
Athletic achievement: She has led the Saints to a 17-0 record and a berth in the Class 3, District 15 Tournament semifinals against William Chrisman, scheduled for May 19. Bailey scored 14 goals and passed for nine assists through 14 games, missing the final three games of the regular season to participate in a training camp with the U.S. Soccer Under-18 Women’s National Team. A club Youth All-American selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, she is ranked as the nation’s No. 4 recruit in the Class of 2015 by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Academic excellence: Bailey has maintained an A average.
Exemplary character: A member of the Interact Club in association with Rotary International, she has volunteered locally at a food bank and as a youth soccer coach.
“Dorian is always looking to create when she has the ball at her feet,” said Todd Krey, head coach of Lee’s Summit West. “Her combination of speed and foot skills makes it extremely difficult on defenders.”
THE FUTURE: Bailey has verbally committed to North Carolina.
