Canisius Crusaders

Crusaders look to repeat as champions. Have All-WNY candidates in Brad Zaffram and Josh Hoffman. One of the top defensive backs in NYS, Jerome Brundidle, Michael Tarbutt and T.J. Wheatley, Jr. , who is WNY’s most recruited football player with 18 scholarship offers. Need to replace RB Qadree Ollison who rushes for 1465 yards and 22 TD’s last season. Solomon Renfro is one of the candidates to replace Ollison. Jacob Louckes returns at QB but faces competition at the position. Line to be anchored by Wheatley, 6’6 260 lbs; Mike Kenefick, 6’4 250 lbs and Chris Ganagarossa, 6’5 290 lbs. Justin Jones transferred to St. Joe’s and will be a welcome addition to the Crusaders.

St. Francis Red Raiders

Jerry Smith returns 8 starters on both sides of the ball. Offense will be sparked by Sophomore QB Jerry Hickson, Immanuel Williams, Jamal Johanson and Kordol Holmes- Lightbody. Defense to be led by Brian Pacholec and Tavrean Davis while line will be anchored by Nick Weikle, Pacholec, Tim Smith and Jack Hayes. Red Raiders are 8-14-0 past 2 seasons. Schedule this season includes Alden, Hutch Tech and South Park from Section VI. Should compete for title. Will miss John Scibetta, Assistant Coach, who is not coaching with Red Raiders after 20 years. He will be missed big time.

St. Joes Marauders

Marauders had solid 7-4 record last season. They have All-WNY candidates in Dan Carr, 6’5 290lb lineman, Cordell Owens, and Ryan Conschafter, Other key players include David Archer who takes over at QB after Mike McCarthy suffered an ACl injury, Darren Thompson, Anthony Spina, and Josh Jackson. They lost junior Justin Jones who transferred to Canisius. They will miss Nigel Davis and Rod Payne. Marauders have a tough match up in the opener at St. Anthony’s. They play a tough schedule and host Canisius in week 5. They will be competitive. Thompson is a candidate for 1000 yards rushing. Marauders will compete for a title.

Timon- St. Jude Tigers

Tigers look to rebound from last years 4-7 record. Key players will be Derick Simpson, Desmond Stephens, Tyler Ringwood, Gavin Caufield and Tyree Coble. Have lost several quality starters to graduation in the past 2 years, could struggle this season. Have tough matchup in opener against Aquinas. Key players will be Arenzo Thomas and Brandon May.

St. Mary’s Lancers

Lancers will look to improve on last years 4-4 record. Chris Glenn takes over the helm from Dave Hensey as Head Coach. Key players will be Tony Robinson, Zachary Penska, Marc O’Neill, Jacob Shepard and Anthony Stitt will miss Nick Vallone who rushes for over 1000 yards in 2013. Lancers don’t play Canisius this season. Will also miss plays of Justin Hersey who transferred to Lancaster.

Cardinal O’Hara

Hawks look to rebound from last years one win season. Returning 6 starters and 5 on defense. Key players will be Donel Cathcart, Cliff Zeigler, Charles DeBose III, Michael Spagna and Tyler Jansen. Hawks play only Timon/ St. Jude of Big Four teams. Should be competitive this season. Ziegler recorded 83 tackles as a freshman LB to lead the Hawks defense.
