Mount Vernon’s Ashley Childers, after finishing as state runner-up a year ago, won the Class 1 girls’ golf title this time around.

Childers shot a final-day 73 in overcast, blustery conditions at Rivercut Golf Course to win the individual championship by three strokes on Tuesday.

The Missouri State commit shot an even-par 72 on Monday to take the lead and her score in the final round tied Logan Marie Otter of John Burroughs for best score of the day. Otter finished second with Sarah Bell of Cape Girardeau Notre Dame third, five shots behind.

Mount Vernon finished seventh in the team competition as Mary Institute Country Day of St. Louis won the title by 14 shots over John Burroughs.

Lyndsey Nicole Standage of Rogersville finished ninth, with Paige Moles of Marshfield 11th.
