The Mt. Spokane Wildcats slowpitch softball team is in its second season of existence entering 2014. After the trials of forming a new team from the ground up, the Wildcats finished their inaugural season with a 7-13 record.
Their coach, Carl Adams, and his staff are tasked with establishing a culture for slowpitch at Mt. Spokane, and he’s off to a great start. There’s excitement for the Wildcats season as they hope to put an end to the Titan-era of slowpitch in the Greater Spokane League.
It’s no secret that the team to beat in the GSL is University High School. The Titans were undefeated last season, and have only lost 1 game since 2010. The Titans have also claimed every GSL slowpitch title since the 2006-07 season.
The Wildcats open their 2014 season at home against the Titans on September 12th at 4 p.m.
For the Wildcats, and the rest of the GSL, they’ll have to put their best play forward to knock off the team that has dominated slowpitch.
Most of the team is returning this season and those ladies will be expected to be a veteran presence for the newcomers. Something special is in the air at Mt. Spokane, and if all goes well this season, they’ll have the slowpitch softball team to thank.
Season Opener – September 12, 2014 – 4 p.m. – At Mt. Spokane High School
