Myers Park soccer hands Independence another shutout

By

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Myers Park High School men’s soccer picked up a hard-fought win Monday, shutting out Southwest Conference rival Independence 1-0. The Mustangs rebounded from a 2-1 loss against Porter Ridge on September 17 to take the victory. Bucky McCarley’s squad has now won three of their last four contests and sit just one 1.5 games behind Garinger for first place.

Independence has struggled in 2014 with a 3-4-1 record thus far. Tyler Gibson’s Patriots have struggled offensively, only scoring 13 goals, 11 of which were scored in three games. Independence has now been shutout in three consecutive games.

The Patriots will have a chance to get back on track when they host Rocky River on September 24. Myers Park hosts first-place Garinger High School September 24 at 6:00 pm.
