THE BASICS

School: Valley (Albuquerque, N.M.)
Grade: Senior
Position: Point guard
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 190 pounds

Athletic achievement: He led the Vikings to a 27-2 record and the Class A state title this past season. Saltes averaged 20.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 65 percent from inside the arc this past season. A two-time first team All-State selection, he scored a game-high 26 points in Valley’s 56-42 win over Atrisco Heritage.

Academic excellence: Saltes has maintained a 3.08 GPA.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally on behalf of the Special Olympics and as a youth basketball coach.

THE PRAISE

“Adonis Saltes is an outstanding player,” said Frank Castillo, head coach at La Cueva. “He led them to the No. 1 seed and the state title this season. He is a great leader.”

THE FUTURE: Saltes has signed with New Mexico.
