Athletic achievement: The state’s returning Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year, Williams has led the Wildcats to a 29-0 record and a berth in the Class 5A state semifinals, scheduled for March 13. A returning First Team All-State selection as named by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association, she averaged 24.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.8 steals through 29 games. She led Clovis to the 2013 Class 5A state championship as a sophomore.
Academic excellence: Also a volleyball standout, Williams has maintained a 4.24 weighted GPA and ranks No. 1 in her graduating class.
Exemplary character: A member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Junior Honor Society and her school’s Spanish Club, she has volunteered locally on behalf of her church’s youth group.
THE PRAISE
“She’s a hard worker, great competitor and good overall person,” said Clovis head coach Jeff Reed. “She has proven that she is the best player in New Mexico by playing the hardest competition in the state at the highest level.”
THE FUTURE: Williams will be a senior this fall.
