THE WINNER: Kelli Reagan
THE BASICS
School: St. Pius X (Albuquerque, N.M.)
Grade: Senior
Position: Distance runner
Height: 5-foot-4
Athletic achievement: She raced to the Class 4A individual state championship this past season with a time of 18:23.5, leading the Sartans to third place as a team. Reagan also won the Los Alamos Invitational, the Manzano Invitational, the Cibola Invitational, the Rio Rancho Jamboree and the District championships.
Academic excellence: Reagan has maintained a 4.43 GPA.
Exemplary character: President of her school’s chapter of the National Honor Society, Reagan is also a talented artist and has volunteered locally on behalf of Habitat for Humanity.
THE PRAISE
“She’s certainly the best training and racing athlete I’ve coached in 27 years,” said St. Pius X coach Jeff Turcotte. “Plus she’s a straight-A student and a genuinely nice young lady.”
THE FUTURE: Reagan remains undecided upon a collegiate destination.
