McDowell senior Trevor Newman has committed to play college baseball for Winthrop.

But that hasn’t stopped the Titans infielder/pitcher from continuing to make a name for himself this summer in showcases.

In fact, the website Perfect Game singled Newman out as one of the top prospects at the Atlantic Coast Top Prospect showcase held Friday through Sunday in Kannapolis and had this to say:

Trevor Newman – RHP – 2015 – Marion, NC

Newman profiles to be a power arm coming out of the pen at the next level. Although there is some effort involved in his delivery he pitched 85-88 while topping out at 90. He has a quick delivery and short arm action that is deceptive on hitters.

Newman was an All-Mountain Athletic Conference player for the Titans as a junior and participated in the State Games of North Carolina for Region VIII.
