Just three days after winning the USA Today HSS Best Football Program contest, Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, Va.) solidified the honor by winning the first state title in the program’s history knocking off defending Class 6A state champ Centreville (Clifton, Va.) 30-24 overtime.
Trailing 24-17 with just over two minutes left in regulation, Centreville (12-3) quarterback Joe Ferrick hurled an 80-yard touchdown pass to Charles Tutt to force overtime.
The Wildcats got the ball first in the extra period and on fourth-and-goal their field goal attempt clanged off of the left post.

That’s when Ocean Lakes (15-0), ranked No. 9 in the USA Today HSS Super 25, gave the ball to Arizona State commit Jaason Lewis, who went 10 yards for the game-winning score.
Lewis rushed for 282 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
