North Caddo hits century mark in playoff win

Playing everyone on the roster and possibly a few from the stands, the top-ranked North Caddo Lady Rebels rolled into the second round of the LHSAA Class 2A playoffs on Thursday night with a 100-23 victory against outmanned Oak Hill (9-19).

The scoring trio of Sumer Williams, Ledetriha Sheppard and Jasmine Thomas pumped in 30, 24 and 16 points respectively in the win, while Keyarrea Easter added 10 off the bench.

North Caddo (30-1) advances to host District 1-2A foe Red River (17-12) on Monday night.

Stanley 80, Centerville 23: Behind 28 points from Michee Alexander, Stanley (39-0) advanced in the Class B playoffs with a dominating victory. Macey Nash added 13 points, while Sara Housley and Tasha Hall chipped in 10 apiece for coach Cleve Craig’s club.

Stanley will host Hathway (9-20), which ousted Doyline (17-13), in the second round.

Notre Dame 70, Evangel 52: Despite 22 points from Rachel Johnson and 20 from Tiara Young, the Lady Eagles’ (14-16) season came to a close in Crowley. Madeline LeJeune pumped in 23 points for the Lady Pioneers (25-4).

Ponchatoula 52, Airline 48 OT: The Lady Vikings took Ponchatoula into an extra period but couldn’t pull off the road playoff win. McNeese-signee Jasmyn Carswell scored 17 points and Kei McCoy 15 to lead coach David Duhon’s club, which finished 17-14 on the season.

Mansfield 44, St. Louis 25: The Lady Wolverines (26-6) got 18 points from junior Ashlyn Jacobs and 14 from Whitney Jackson in the home win in the 3A state playoff contest. Mansfield will host Loranger, a 55-38 winner over Richwood, at 6 p.m. on Monday.

Natchitoches 35, Lafayette 14: With senior Gabriella Cortez dropping in 17 points, the Lady Chiefs (25-6) advanced in the 5A playoffs with a football-type score. Cortez hit the only 3-pointer in the game. NCHS will travel to Ponchatoula for Monday’s second-round contest.

Arcadia 91, St. Edmund 35: The Lady Hornets took the visitors out of the game with a 25-4 first quarter on their way to an easy win in the 1A state playoff contest. Ty Henderson topped Arcadia with 20 points, while Khelsa Foster added 16 and Latricia Baker 10. St. Edmund fell to 7-19.

St. Michael 46, Huntington 31: The The Lady Raiders (14-11) were tied at halftime and trailed by just two points heading into the fourth quarter before the Lady Warriors (21-12) pulled away late.

West Ouachita 50, Benton 40: The Lady Tigers fought back from an 18-8 first-quarter deficit but couldn’t overtake the Lady Chiefs (22-10) in the Class 4A state playoff contest. Rebecca Skains made 3-of-4 free throws in the final minute to clinch the victory over Benton (20-12).

Peabody 51, Loyola 43: The Lady Flyers (19-12) couldn’t pick up the road win in the 3A state playoff contest falling to the Lady Warhorses (21-9).
