Six members of division champion Elmira Notre Dame have been selected to the Interscholastic Athletic Conference South Large School all-star team for girls soccer.
The picks were made by the division’s coaches, who selected Waverly senior Emiley Myers as Most Valuable Player.
Notre Dame first-team picks were senior forward Allegra Dawes, eighth-grade forward Laurel Vargas, junior midfielders Emma Booth and Riley Edger, junior defender Victoria Schutrum and senior defender Kaylyn Curran.
Waverly first-team choices: senior forwards Kylie Newman and Danielle Burkhart, senior midfielder Myers, and senior defenders Kiana Manuel and Katie McVoy.
Earning first-team honors for Watkins Glen was senior midfielder Madison Gates. Rounding out the first team were Newark Valley forward Ashley Kassapian, Newark Valley midfielder Meagan Diego, Newark Valley defender Tara Burkmeyer and Newark Valley goalie Molly Graves.
Second-team picks: Notre Dame — Maura Glovins, Mackenzie Mahajan and Mackenzie Maloney; Waverly — Elle Nettinger, Alex Tomasso and Capria Picco; Watkins Glen — Justine Hulbert, Bernadette Osborne and Alexandria Gardner; Newark Valley — Maddy Sherwood, Katelyn Martin, Brianna Sokol and Morgan Sherwood.
IAC South Small School
Odessa-Montour senior forward Sage Garrison and O-M senior defender Hallie Searles were first-team picks. Earning second-team honors for the Indians were senior Callie Stillman, junior April Dunn, sophomore Britney Visscher and eighth-grader Mckenna Lott.
Candor junior Emily Potter was named MVP. Other first-team picks were Candor’s Alex Patak, Angela Martone, Taylor Horton and Potter; Tioga’s Paige Hendershot and Brooke Albanese; Spencer-Van Etten’s Charlotte Rosvold, Megan Holman and Erin Catlin; and Newfield’s Sierra Henry and Christine Sexton.
Other second-team picks were Candor’s Mikayla Short, S-VE’s Adelina Hays and Maggie Hollenbeck; Tioga’s Lynzy Baker; and Newfield’s Kaitlyn Bickham.
Dryden junior defender Taylor Bennett was named Large School MVP, and Marathon junior forward Allison O’Shea was named Small School MVP.
