Oakfield softball picks up 2 wins Saturday


Oakfield Tournament: The top-ranked Oaks were tested well through three innings of two games before its offense opened up to top Markesan 11-0 and Weyauwega-Fremont 5-0.

Against Markesan, McKaela Ryan threw a two-hitter in six innings while the Oaks (13-0, 10-0 Trailwayns North) blew the game open with seven runs in the fourth. Aly Uttendorfer went 3-for-4, while McKaela and Maddy Ryan each had a pair of hits.

McKaela also picked up the win against Weyauwega-Fremont as the teams went scoreless through three innings before Oakfield scored twice each in the fourth and fifth innings to take control.

Alyssa Sabel and Hannah Flury were each 2-for-3 against the Indians.

“It wasn’t that our offense was bad, we were just facing better pitching today,” Oakfield coach Mike Urban said. “Our defense was exceptional in that second game.”
