THE WINNER: Jill Farley
THE BASICS
School: Tualatin (Ore.)
Grade: Senior
Position: Defender
Height: 5-foot-7
Athletic achievement: She led the Timberwolves to a 14-2-3 record and the Class 6A state title this past season. Farley scored 12 goals, passed for 11 assists and anchored a defense that allowed only 11 goals en route to recording 14 shutouts. The Oregonian’s Class 6A Player of the Year, Farley was the MVP of the state championship game, a 2-0 win over Sunset (Portland, Ore.). She was a three-time First Team All-State selection and concluded her prep soccer career with 57 goals and 46 assists.
Academic excellence: Farley has maintained a 3.64 GPA.
Exemplary character: A member of the Tualatin High National Arts Honor Society, she has volunteered locally as a freshman orientation leader and in association with a fun run for the Make A Wish Foundation. She has also completed two service-mission trips to Haiti.
THE PRAISE
“Jill Farley is a true difference-maker on the field,” said Tim Copeland, head coach of Grant (Portland, Ore.). “She scored an amazing goal against us and was a huge part of them beating us. She also defended one of our best players and made her a non-factor in the game.”
THE FUTURE: Farley has signed with Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles.
