After a standout career at Pennfield, Audrianna Bornamann has committed to run track collegiately at the University of Michigan.
Bornamann will be a member of the Michigan track team and cross country team, running distance events for the Big Ten school.
Pennfield track coach Rick McKire is proud to see another one of his athletes make the leap to Division 1 collegiate track.
“This is Michigan. We live in Michigan and it doesn’t get any better than this,” McKire said. “We are happy that she is leaving Pennfield and putting us on the map at the ‘Big House.'”
The Panther senior finished seventh in the MHSAA Division 2 cross country state meet in the fall and was All-City champ and Kalamazoo Valley Association champ in cross country the last two years. Bornamann holds the school record at Pennfield in cross country at 18:27.
“This is where I’ve wanted to go my whole life,” Bornamann said. “Grades have always been there for me to go to a place like Michigan. So it was about getting to that level in running and after my sophomore year I put the time in to get to this point. So I’m excited that it’s happening.”
