"Perfect" Ending: Scarborough girls win first state hockey title

By

LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) – Freshman Elizabeth Gross showed savvy beyond her years scoring a hat trick as she helped the Scarborough girls complete a perfect season along with capturing their first state title in hockey.

Gross scored a pair in the first with the Red Storm preserving that two-goal lead until the 3rd period.

The Blue Devils were able to pull back within a goal when Allison Frechette tipped in a Corinne Laberge shot. With time running out Lewiston had to pull their goalie in search of a game-tying goal, but Gross put away the game and her third tally of the final ensuring the win.

Scarborough finished the season with a 21-0 record.
