One of the most under the radar teams in recent weeks has been the quietly hot Pleasantville Panthers, and their silent assassin has been Jonathan Kyriakidis.
The sophomore forward scored six goals and added an assist this week, contributing to a 3-0-1 record during a very busy stretch. Kyriakidis began with a hat trick against Tuckahoe on Monday — his second consecutive three-goal effort at that point — and followed up with a goal against Hamilton on Wednesday. The very next day, he scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Croton-Harmon. The only game this week in which Kyriakidis didn’t score was Saturday in a 0-0 tie against Rye Neck, but he had the closest call of the game on a shot that hit the post.
Overall, Pleasantville hasn’t lost in a stretch of seven games (6-0-1 in that span), while Kyriakidis is up 15 goals and three assists for the season.
“He is one of our leaders with a tireless and impactful work rate on both sides of the ball,” coach Savvas Kyriakidis said. “He played a huge part in the team staying unbeaten in the last seven games.”
Other candidates who were considered this week include Pearl River’s Vincenzo Galvano, Byram Hills’ Bennett Kramer, Mamaroneck’s J.D. Wilson, Hen Hud’s Aidan Datene and Brewster’s Kenny Recinos.
