Trinity Christian Academy’s football team has a bye week this week in the first round of the playoffs, and it comes at the right time when the Lions need a week to heal up some.
Some players were out. Others were limited. TCA had an important game to clinch the district championship. It almost seems like a job for a secret agent to handle. James Bond was TCA’s go-to guy this week.
The senior running back had 16 carries for 168 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the way to the win and the championship – and essentially the week to rest and repair.
Bond has been a go-to player for the Lions all season, and really the last two or three years.
This season, he’s among the area leaders in return yards, and a lot of those yards come from his play on defense with interception returns.
He’s getting recognized on the collegiate level as Murray State has made him an offer. He’s waiting to decide whether to accept or not.
If he has his way, he gets this week off and four more games to play at the high school level.
