Poolesville Volleyball: 'Young Team, Not Decimated'

POOLESVILLE, Md. (WUSA 9) — Last year the Poolesville volleyball team was runner-up at the state finals. Coach Fran DuVall said the team is young this season, but competitive.

“I’m excited about the younger kids,” DuVall said. “There’s always something to look forward to.”

She said the team is working on individual skills and by mid-September she expects the team to come together.

“We will be in gear together and able to compete,” DuVall said.

For leadership, DuVall said she looks to senior Allyson Convers. She said she hopes Convers will lead by example on the court.

“She can help out and let others know what they’re supposed to be doing,” DuVall said.

DuVall said there are a lot of scrimmages set up for preseason. She said she wants to see how the players will play in a game situation.

“I don’t want them to be surprised,” DuVall said. “I’m curious how the season will turn out.”

Poolesville’s first game is against Quince Orchard at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 5.
