Poudre names new baseball coach

Russell Haigh has been named coach of the Poudre High School baseball team.

The 45-year-old replaces Marc Buffington who stepped down to spend more time with his family after last season, his sixth with the Impalas.

Haigh has been coaching at Chatfield and spent time coaching at the University of Wyoming, the school from which he received his undergraduate degree. He takes over a team that went 4-15 last year.

“I know Poudre has a great reputation and is a hardworking school with good kids and good parents,” Haigh said. “I’m excited for the opportunity.”
