The Valders baseball team held off a late charge from host Reedsville en route to a 9-7 win in an Olympian Conference game on Tuesday.
Trailing 8-1 in the bottom of the fifth, the Panthers scored two runs. They tacked one on in the sixth and three more in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough.
Ben Behnke had two hits and two RBIs for the Vikings (9-11, 7-8 OC).
Bryce Hassemer went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Reedsville (7-5, 7-5 OC), while teammate Elliott Ebert was 2-for-3 with two driven in.
Ebert took the loss, working four innings and allowing four earned runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking four.
Ryan Valleskey tossed 62⁄3 innings en route to the win. He allowed three earned runs on 11 hits, struck out two and walked four.

Ethan Hillmer (1-for-3) and Joe Pautz (1-for-1) combined for the Lancers’ lone hits.
The visiting Tigers scored the only run of the game in the first inning and kept Lutheran’s offense in check the rest of the way.
Jared Muench took the loss for the Lancers, throwing all seven innings and allowing one run on seven hits.
