Prep baseball roundup: Vikings split with Zephyrs


The visiting Valders baseball team split an Olympian Conference doubleheader with St. Mary Central on Tuesday.

The Vikings took Game 1 4-3 before dropping the nightcap 11-1 in five innings.

Valders trailed 3-0 in the top of the fifth when the Vikings hung up three runs to tie the game. They pushed across the winning run an inning later.

Kade Fochs had three hits and an RBI for the Vikings (5-10, 3-7 OC).

Jon Shimon picked up the complete-game win, allowing three earned runs on six hits, striking out one and walking one.

The second game belonged to the Zephyrs who scored 11 runs on eight hits in the five-inning game.

Trevor Griffin drove in the Vikings’ lone run.

Zach Schuh suffered the loss, tossing three innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits.

Wrightstown 3, Mishicot 0

The host Indians were held to just one hit in the OC loss.

Aaron Schnell finished the game 1-for-3 for Mishicot (1-13, 1-8 OC).

Drew Honzik took the loss. He pitched all seven innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits, struck out four and walked six.
