Prep basketball: Area teams don orange for anti-violence cause

By

On Thursday the Sheboygan Falls girls basketball team will look to raise awareness of Teen Dating Violence Prevention and Awareness Month by wearing orange socks when it hosts Campbellsport at 7:30 p.m. for its final regular season game.

The Falcons’ boys basketball team also wore orange socks last week when it hosted Kewaskum, while the Sheboygan South boys basketball team did the same over the weekend when it hosted Sheboygan North.

Orange is the national color for the support of healthy relationships and taking a stand against dating violence. In addition to supporting the cause, the teams also wore the socks as a way to show support for Safe Harbor of Sheboygan County, a domestic abuse shelter in Sheboygan.

Prevention Education Coordinator Rachel Wojasinski and Children’s Coordinator Amanda Petermann will also have an informational table during the Campbellsport-Sheboygan Falls game with pamphlets, handouts and different resources regarding dating violence.
