CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Hall of Fame games are just a week away and Montgomery County’s high school basketball teams are working feverishly to prepare for the start of the regular season.
A big step will be taking Thursday when area coaches will get a glimpse of what’s to come as the CMCSS Basketball Jamboree tips off at 4:40 p.m. at the Dunn Center.
As with all jamborees, the games will be played in only two eight-minute quarters with no overtime. Montgomery Central and Northwest will start the competition. The girls play first, followed by the boys game at 5:10.
West Creek and Rossview will be matched up with the girls game starting at 5:55 and the boys’ game at 6:25. Kenwood is matched up with Northeast and Clarksville Academy will take on Clarksville High to finish the jamboree.
The Lady Hawks come into the season as the defending District 10 champs and last year’s Class AAA state qualifiers. Kenwood is the defending league champs on the boys side but enter the 2014-15 season under new head coach Dennis Pardue.
West Creek’s boys will also have a new head coach in former Northwest head man, Russell Malone while Northeast will debut a new head coach for the first time in 16 years in Thomas Stanley.
The regular season is scheduled to start Nov. 11 with Hall of Fame games. District basketball games will begin later this month and into December before teams prepare for the meat of its schedule at the start of the new year.
