Prep border classic: Big names will play for Michigan in new all-star football game vs. Ohio


The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association announced the roster for the Ohio-Michigan High School Border Classic today in East Lansing.

The thirty-nine seniors were selected by the association. They all all slated to play college football anywhere from Michigan to Michigan State to Navy to Ferris State.

The roster features nine members of the 2013 Free Press Dream Team: Ithaca QB Travis Smith, Clarkston RB Ian Eriksen, Detroit King WR Avonte Maddox, Muskegon offensive lineman Malik King, Southfield defensive lineman Lawrence Marshall, Clarkston defensive lineman Nick Matich, Warren De La Salle linebacker Jared Wangler, Birmingham Brother Rice safety Jason Alessi and Walled Lake Western kicker Kyle Bambard.

The head coach will be Mike Zdebski of Walled Lake Western. His assistants will be Mike Weiskoph (Western), Ed Greenman (Battle Creek Harper Creek), Tim Szegda and Brian Lemons (Ann Arbor Richard) and Scott Merchant (Clinton Twp. Chippewa Valley).

The inaugural event is scheduled for June 14 at Donnell Stadium in Findlay, Ohio.
