Scouting reports for the city high school football games for Week 8:
B.C. Central (4-3) vs. Portage Northern (4-3), 7 p.m. Today
Scouting Report: Both teams are in playoff mode already as each are 4-3 and need to win their final two games to get an automatic berth in the postseason. Portage Northern has lost two in a row, including a 26-10 defeat to its rival Portage Central last week. After an early lead, Portage Northern gave up 20 unanswered points in the loss. Bearcats had won three in a row before a tight 13-6 defeat to Mattawan last week.

Harper Creek (4-3) vs. Marshall (2-5), 7 p.m. Today
Scouting Report: Harper Creek needs to win its final two games to get automatic bid in playoffs and continue six-season postseason streak. Harper Creek has beaten rival Marshall four straight seasons. Marshall ended a three-game losing streak last week with a 27-15 win over Jackson Northwest.
Great Gridder: Jake Bishop had 108 yards and a touchdown in loss.
Lakeview (5-1) vs. St. Joseph (4-3), 7 p.m. Today
Scouting Report: Lakeview, which clinched a postseason berth last week, faces a St. Joseph team that needs to win to qualify for the playoffs. The Bears feature two Division 1 prospects – 6-foot-5, 300-pound Wesley French and 6-3, 235-pound defensive end Corey Malone-Hatcher. St. Joseph has lost three of last four games, including a 27-21 defeat last week. Lakeview has won 19 of last 20 regular season games.

Pennfield (2-5) at Jackson Lumen Christi (7-0), 7 p.m. Today
Scouting Report: Lumen Christi is one of the top teams in the state, ranked No. 2 in Division 6 and beat Parma Western 61-28 last week. Lumen Christi features running back Khari Willis, who is a verbal commitment to play at Michigan State and had 238 yards and three touchdowns last week.
Great Gridder: DaWan Smith had 225 yards and four touchdowns in loss.
St. Philip (7-0) vs. Portland St. Patrick (7-0), 7 p.m. Saturday
Scouting Report: This is a repeat of last year when both teams came into Week 8 undefeated and playing each other. Then, the Tigers beat Portland St. Patrick 68-14. While St. Philip is ranked No. 4 in 8-man football, Portland St. Patrick is HM in weekly poll. St. Philip clinched its league title last week
