Ian McKinch, Andrew Collins, Eric Shoneman and Austin Campbell each finished with two goals apiece and four other Sheboygan Red Raiders hockey players scored to hand Manitowoc a 12-1 loss on Friday.
Andrew Bryce, Michael Stock, Brett Sheldon and Jacob Welsch all scored a goal to help with the win, which pushes Sheboygan to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in the Fox River Classic Conference.
Collins and Sheldon scored their first career goals in the home win.
Cam Scheuren finished with eight saves through two periods in the Red Raiders’ net. Erik Johnson had four saves after playing half of the third period in the team’s net. And Jacob Molzer had a save in the final half of the third period.
Manitowoc opened the game with a 1-0 lead after the first period–Sheboygan outshot Manitowoc 33-1 in the period, but couldn’t capitalize on the lop-sided offense. The Red Raiders responded forcefully after that, though, scoring seven goals in the second period and five more in the third.
“The kids moved the puck well,” Sheboygan coach Keith Bartholomaus said, noting he was impressed by his players’ teamwork in the win.
Sheboygan plays at Notre Dame today.
