AUBURNDALE – Blake Anderson and Sam Frodl combined on a four-hitter with eight strikeouts as Auburndale downed Newman Catholic 12-2 in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game Friday.

Auburndale scored seven times in the bottom of the fourth to break open the game.

John Cywinski took the loss for Newman.

GILMAN – Calvin Lenz surrendered just two hits in three innings of work to get the win and the Rockets took care of business against the Pirates in five innings.

Lenz, Bobby Pilz and Matt Ivacic had two hits apiece for Spencer.

LOYAL – Ryley Fischer delivered a walkoff single as the Greyhounds came back to defeat the Blackhawks. The game was tied 7-7 after three innings with neither team scoring until Fischer’s game-ending single.

Columbus 14-8, Colby 8-0

COLBY – Kienan McIntee went a combined 4 for 8 in the two games as the Dons swept the Cloverbelt Conference East Division doubleheader.

McIntee also earned the win in the opening game as he struck out five in four innings.

The second game was called after five innings due to darkness.

Greenwood 9, Augusta 4

GREENWOOD – Morgan Hinker homered, Rylie Johnson scored three runs and Paige Lindner had three RBI to back the pitching of Madison Lucas in a Cloverbelt-East win for Greenwood.

GILMAN – Brooke Kettleborough doubled home two runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the Pirates answered by scoring the winning run in the bottom of the inning and hand the Rockets a loss.

Macie Weber accounted for the other two hits for Spencer.

MERRILL – Trevor Thomas and Taylor Thomas overcame chilly conditions at Merrill Golf Club to share medalist honors with rounds of 73 and carry Stevens Point Area Senior High to an eight-stroke victory over Marshfield in the team standings.

Ian Pillai fired a 78 to pace the Tigers, while Joe Benbow was the top individual for Wisconsin Rapids after shooting a 79. Mike Pagel has the best round for third-place Merrill with an 81.

SPASH increased its lead in the team race for the championship and now leads second-place Marshfield by four points, while the Panthers’ Trevor Thomas and Taylor Thomas, respectively, set the pace on the individual front.
