Wesley Bannister had 24 points and Asiah Lawson had 22 as the Rocky Mountain High School girls basketball team beat Cherokee Trail 75-60 on Thursday night.
The win came in the first game of the Grand Junction Invitational. Bannister hit four 3-pointers and led all scorers. Lawson had two 3-pointers. Mckenzee Gertz added 11 points and Holly Mackie had nine as the Lobos moved to 2-0.
Rocky Mountain faces host Grand Junction at 7 p.m. Friday.
FOSSIL RIDGE 54, PINE CREEK 48 — Sami Steffeck hit three 3-pointers and scored a game-high 18 points to help Fossil Ridge (1-1) get its first win of the season in the second game of a tournament at ThunderRidge.
Brooke Pemberton had 15 points and Kellee Willer had 12.
MESA RIDGE 42, POUDRE 38 (2OT) — Anna Haugen had 11 points and Shayla Reeves had nine but visiting Sand Creek held off Poudre (1-1) in the second overtime to pull off the win.
The Impalas play Smoky Hill at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Battle of the Rockies at Rocky Mountain.
LIBERTY COMMON 48, UNIVERSITY 41 — Andrew Jones hit four 3-pointers and led all scorers with 17 points as Liberty Common (1-0) won on the road to open the season.
Josh Van Vleet had 12 points and Rob Knab added 11. The Eagles host Briggsdale at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
WINDSOR 94, SKYLINE 86 — Windsor’s Rilea Driscoll had a state qualifying mark in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:45.7 and Lacey Whitehead had a qualifying time in the 100 fly with a time of 1:05.
POUDRE 56, WELD CENTRAL 11 — At 106 pounds, Poudre’s Brody Lamb won by fall in 1:42. At 138, Damon Ortiz won by fall in 3:35 and Diego Calderon won by pin at 152. At 160, Colby Ball won 10-5.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN 51, LAKEWOOD 21 — At 113 pounds, Lobos wrestler Josh Nira won by fall in 35 seconds. Logan Murray (120) won by fall in 3:34, Danny Murphy (145) won by fall in 3:42, Jake Hansen (160) won by fall in 5:16, Konnor Schmidt (182) won by fall in 3:48 and Nick Reed (220) won by fall in 36 seconds.
