Brock Ridgeway hit a two-run home run and Alex White had a pair of hits and an RBI late Saturday as the Homer High baseball team improved to 7-0 on the young season with a 5-3, non-league victory over Jackson.
Jared Warsop went the first 6 1/3 innings on the Trojan mound in earning the pitching triumph, and Dylan Thomas got the save.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Marshall Sports Festival: Host Marshall finished in third place out of four teams with 19 points over the weekend, while Bronson was fourth. First was Jackson Lumen Christi with 30 points, and second was Jackson County Western with 21.
For Marshall, Brooklyn Tobias took first place at No. 4 singles, Mary Townsend took second place at No. 3 singles, and the duo of Veich-Olmstead took second place at No. 1 doubles.
For Bronson, the tandem of Bennett-Laukhuf was second at No. 2 doubles.
Greater Kalamazoo Tournament (Sat.): Galesburg-Augusta claimed seven individual victories at the tourney and currently sits in eighth place out of 14 teams.
The Rams’ No. 2 singles player, Megan Beaver, will be playing for third place against Kalamazoo Christian on Monday. All of the singles players for G-A earned at least one victory; as the No. 3 and No. 4 doubles duos.
