STEVENS POINT – The Pacelli softball team showed off its offensive capabilities Tuesday night, scoring a combined 28 runs en route to a Central Wisconsin Conference-8 doubleheader sweep of Amherst on Tuesday.
Pacelli won by scores of 10-0 and 18-1. In game two Sami Kay Shafranski had two doubles and Sydney Alery added a double and a homer. Payton Hintz and Emily Raczek also homered for the Cardinals.
“The girls talked about that we are going into playoff week,” Pacelli coach Ann Molski said. “The big focus is putting things together for the playoff run.”
Pacelli travels to Iola-Scandinavia today for a 4 p.m. game.

ROSHOLT – Winning pitcher Kayla Smith struck out 11 and drove in a pair of runs and the Eagles, who benefitted from 17 walks, edged the Hornets in a one-run game for the second time this season.
Rosholt had runners on second and third with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but came up one run short.
“We just cant over hump against them (Almond), we put the ball in play, but we just can’t finish it,” Rosholt coach Aaron Dobbe said.
Nikayla Glodowski and Alyssa Yenter each had two hits for the Hornets, while Cassie Glodowski and Nikayla Glodowski had three RBI apiece.

Brianna Flugaur and Aubrey Drohner, who was the winning pitcher, each chipped in with three hits and three runs scored.
Angela Flashinski scored the lone East run, while Jorie Meyer and R Puliken had two hits apiece.

ROSHOLT – Spencer Hahn went 3 for 3 and Jarod Richter had a pair of doubles for the Hornets, who wrapped up their sixth straight Central Wisconsin Conference-10 title in convincing fashion.
Nick Lemke, Derek Check and Lucas Wiza chipped in with two hits apiece, and senior Cody Tokarski added a double in a 15-hit attack for Rosholt, which has only 38 conference losses over the past 28 seasons.
“We hit the ball good,” Rosholt coach Jack Brooks said.

STEVENS POINT – Matt Helms tossed an efficient three-hit shutout, needing just 45 pitches to get through five innings.
“I thought Matt did a great job of pitching strikes and throwing to contact, so that was nice to see,” Pacelli coach Wayne Sankey said.
Cole Fochs and Jake Thomas each had two hits and two RBIs for Pacelli.
Pacelli plays at Iola-Scandinavia today at 3:30 p.m.

WESTON – With first place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference on the line, the D.C. Everest girls soccer team emphatically stated its case as the class of the conference Tuesday night.
Hannah Mourey had a goal and a pair of assists and Maddie Mittelsteadt tallied two goals and the Evergreens broke open a close game with the Panthers with five goals in the second half.
“We beat a quality team tonight,” DCE coach Lucas Kollross said. “I think our depth wore them down a little bit and we were really clicking on all cylinders in the second half.
“They have several outstanding players, so to beat them like we did tonight and sweep the season series means a lot for our program.”

WAUSAU – Stevens Point Area Senior High brothers Trevor and Taylor Thomas went 1-2 to lead the Panthers one step closer to winning back-to-back Wisconsin Valley Conference titles.
Trevor shot a 70 (36-34) for medalist honors, while Taylor was right behind with a score of 74. All five SPASH golfers came in under 90.
Matt Tuman carded an 80 to help Wausau East to a third place finish, while Kyle Hoffman’s 81 led Marshfield, which finished second in the leg and is in second place overall.
Tyler Anderson shot an 81 to lead Wisconsin Rapids.
